TP / SL (Take Profit and Stop Loss)

Last updated on Jul 20, 2026

In a nutshell

Take Profit (TP) and Stop Loss (SL) are automatic rules that allow you to preset sell conditions from a position after making a Pick.

When the price of purchased shares reaches the specified value, the system automatically creates a limit sell order (Sell).

What Are TP and SL

TP and SL are not separate transactions and not a guaranteed result.
They are rules that automate the moment of creating a sell order.

Take Profit (TP) — used to lock in results when price rises
Stop Loss (SL) — used to limit potential risk when price falls

TP and SL work only for already purchased shares.

How Take Profit (TP) Works

Take Profit triggers when share price reaches the specified value or higher.
After triggering:

• the system automatically creates a limit sell order (Sell);
• the limit order price is the value specified in TP settings;
• further execution occurs according to limit order rules.

How Stop Loss (SL) Works

Stop Loss triggers when share price reaches or falls below the specified value.
After triggering:

• the system automatically creates a limit sell order (Sell);
• the limit order price is the value specified in SL settings;
• further execution occurs according to limit order rules.

Order Type When TP / SL Triggers

When TP or SL triggers:

• a limit sell order Sell is always created;
• order parameters match the values set by the user;
• order execution rules do not differ from a regular limit sell order.

For details on limit order execution rules, see Order Types.

Limitations and Important Rules

• TP and SL do not guarantee instant execution of the order.
• TP and SL are automatically cancelled if:

  • Shares were sold manually;

  • a new sell order was opened containing shares with previously set TP and SL;

  • the order was cancelled by the user or automatically.
    • After cancellation or partial execution, TP / SL are not automatically restored.

When It Makes Sense to Use TP / SL

TP and SL are useful if:

• you don't want to constantly monitor the market;
• you preset sell conditions;
• you use a risk management or profit-taking strategy.

TP / SL is an automation tool, not a way to guarantee results.

Important to Remember

• TP and SL do not lock in execution price — they lock in limit Sell order price.
• Execution depends on market offering and limit order rules.
• TP and SL settings can be changed by tapping the TP / SL icons on your orders.
• Zanlo Prediction Market does not interfere in the market and does not change execution rules.
• TP and SL do not affect the confirmed Event outcome.
